I don't recall ever hearing this song before. I do remember watching Laverne & Shirley on TV when I was a kid (we got most of the popular American shows here in Australia) but I must not have seen that episode. You only got to watch a show if you were home at the right time and your parents let you. It's a terrific song, and totally worthy of a straight reading. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I checked out the original scene on YouTube and that clarinet solo is pretty fucking funny.
