So beautiful. Thanks for posting. Makes me pine for a Pernice Brothers songbook so I can play along on guitar. (Did a search at Ultimate guitar to see if anyone had put together a chord sheet but no lick on this one.) This record and a couple by The Lilys motivated me to work with Mike Deming on a project.
Carle had quite a life. He saw some of the world's worst things in his teens, found his calling in his late 30s, and lived to be 91. Did you get to know him?
Thanks for posting this one. I jumped on that reissue, which was a very pleasant surprise. Along with new wax from the New Pornographers, this spring is looking musically auspicious. I've always wondered how it works when a song ends up with strings, piano, etc. Are you as the writer on the hook to produce all those charts yourself? Being able to score is not an extreme proposition, but it does raise the formality bar on writers who otherwise can just sit down with a guitar and a notepad.
Very cool to hear and read this.
Did you say, “Make it so flowowowow”?
Thanks for posting Joe. It's a sweet take, that familiar tascam 4 track vibe is a winner.
The sound of ‘97, ‘98 and a little bit of every year since.
Did I leave a bruise? I hope so.
