In the fall of 2001, I was in college with fast internet when illegal file sharing apps were becoming popular. I was downloading various covers of Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves, one of which was a very intriguing and unique cover by a band called the Scud Mountain Boys... :)
Didn't take long and I had downloaded most or all of the other SMB songs, and my roommate and I listened to them all the time. Looking at my amazon.com order history, in September 2002 I did finally buy both Massachusetts and the Early Year compilation. And it was around then that I finally started listening to the Pernice Brothers as well.
