Friends,
Hope this finds you all relatively well.
As most of you already know, my album Sunny, I Was Wrong came out on April 3 through New West Records. As it is with all of my records, it’s a relief to have the songs on the outside instead of the inside. I’m especially proud of this record, so it’s an even bigger relief to have it out in the world.
I haven’t read my own press in a long, long time, but I’m told the record is being pretty well received. We were given Top 5 LPs of the week by NPR Music. You can listen to the podcast where they discuss the record right here:
I’m also going on a short tour accompanied by my friend Pete Mancini. Pete has an excellent group called Pete Mancini and The Hillside Airmen. He is also the guitarist for the great Jimmy Webb. I’m really glad pete agreed to play with me. The video included here was shot backstage in Philly prior to our first ever gig at WXPN’s Free Noon series. The song we’re doing is called It Got Away From Me and it references Jimmy Webb’s spectacular (yes, that’s right) MacArthur Park. A lot of circles coming full here. Not going to parse it.
Hopefully we’re coming to a venue near you. If you make it out, come by the merch table after the gig (where I’ll be working) and say hello.
Info about the dates can be found here:
Joe's Tour Dates (so far. there will be more)
If you’d like to buy a copy of Sunny (or any of my other LPs), you may do so right here:
And if you enjoy this Substack stuff, maybe you’ll consider upgrading to Paid Subscriber status. The rate is $5.00 USD per month. That gets you everything I post. There’s a subscribe button around here somewhere.
(Okay, back to recording I go. Thanks to you all for supporting the new record and all of my music these many years. I truly couldn’t do it without you. And more than ever, take care of yourselves and those around you.
