Thanks for this rundown on how the tune came together. Having worked with Mike Deming on music of my own in the past, I always enjoy hearing stories of how he helps add the "technicolor!" (as he once said to me after I played a single arpeggiated chord he suggested be overlaid a four chord pattern) to songs.
I have a great memory of my daughter when she was about 5, loving this song and trying to sing along (I have it in quite a few playlists) but she would sing "Dinner Star." I could not correct her.
i'm such a sucker for stuff like this!! bueno!!! also congrats on NewWest deal, etc!! i'm guessing peter jesperson was spear-heading that?? regardless: kudos! xxxcm
I wrote, “I flashed my light into your car” in my notebook.
Makes sense as that’s the line that has always sparked an image when I listen.
Shout out to Peyton. An amazing musician and a great conversationalist the time I got to meet him. One of my favorite structural/textural guitarists in the Johnny Marr or Robbie Blunt mold.
does th new licensing deal mean there will also be a digital/streaming version of the expanded/remastered "overcome by happiness" available on release day?

Really excited about all of this and the show in NYC. Congrats, Mr. Pernice.
With you Joe. Flying is a nightmare. And then there is the outsize carbon emissions… Nope, not going dark on you.
Love this “Dimmest Star” demo and fully STOKED to hear OBH next month in Somerville!!! (Or did your spelling with the extra “M” get adopted?)
Great song
